Columbia College Chicago’s 135th Anniversary celebrates a legacy of creativity, innovation, and artistic excellence. To mark this milestone, we developed a wordmark for external materials, a timeline showcasing key historical events, anniversary-specific design guidelines for faculty and staff, and conceptualized merchandise ideas. As the college prepared to kick-off its celebration, colorful banners were hung alongside Wabash Ave, a street that runs through campus.
For the timeline, we received a rich selection of historical documents and events to explore from the archives. From these, we identified key moments that best showcase the institution's growth and achievements over time.
The complete 135th timeline can be viewed here.
We invited the campus community, partners, and alumni to join us for our kick-off event. The program featured a dedication and mural unveiling, historical trivia, refreshments, and an opportunity to shop merchandise supporting student scholarships.

Alum and muralist Mac McGuire ’24 illustrated a vibrant and hopeful image symbolizing Columbia’s growth and future. The mural was unveiled during the kick-off event for the 135th Anniversary.
